Canon announces world's first 120 megapixel sensor

Canon has today announced development of a new 120 Megapixels APS-H CMOS sensor. It is the same size of sensor used in its current series of EOS-1D professional digital SLRs - although it currently hasn't announced any production schedules. It might just be a showcase for its R&D department - and follows on from a 50 megapixel sensor developed in 2007.
